To The Editor,

> Melvin J Berman Hebrew Academy has been sponsoring a wonderful chesed event every year for many years now. They have been collecting hair from local donors.
> Zichron Menachem is an organization in Israel that has performed wonderful acts of chesed every day for many years now. They help young cancer patients and their families with every need they may have except for the medical care. This includes providing wigs, free of charge to each child who needs one.
> That is where MJBHA and ZM come together. Each year the Rockville, MD school has two hair drives at area salons. Participants donate a minimum of 12 inches of their beautiful hair in return for a free haircut and style, a certificate from ZM and a special gift from the event’s coordinator. The hair is then taken to Yerushalayim where Zichron Menachem has their headquarters.
> The hair is then used to make the wigs.
> ZM believes that each child should have a wig that looks just like his or her normal hair.
> MJBHA’s donors have provided all types of hair, from curly blonde to frizzy red to straight black and everything in between.
> We have donors who come back every 2-3 years! But, we need many, many more. Please consider doing this huge mitzvah this year. It’s a winning situation for all involved.
> Part one will be on Lag Ba’omer, May 3, 2018 at Style Salon.
> Part 2 will be the day after Shavuot, May 22, 2018 at Progressions Salon.
