terms of our skill, confidence, courage, sincerity, and consistency. Without these, who

ues, staring down the competition as we have for thousands of years.

To do this, we need to look both within and without. Other holidays are devoted to
Aveilus introspection, so let’s look outward in this Shavuos season and strengthen ourselves as

munities anywhere. We have our faults – which community doesn’t? – but we also have
86 our virtues. Let’s begin now to reinforce the Torah values in our homes and communi-
ty, each in his or her own way, giving local and immediate meaning to the phrase zman
